ABOUT US

SS Sportshorses is based at Fallows Farm in Irlam, Manchester. We are a family run business comprising of Shelley Harrison and Sophie Ryan.

We are true lovers of the horses and see them not as a business on its own but as our hobby and our life. We enjoy working with and competing our horses and we put our all in to achieve the best results.

Every horse we buy is bought because of their looks, temperament and rideability - all the horses we buy we would be happy to take to a competition ourselves.

Sophie has been riding since the age of 6 when she got upset her granddad would not take her to feed carrots to the ponies in the field by their house. On return from work Tim took her to the yard with her carrots and came home with a pony on loan.

From then she went on to go through the pony showjumping ranks, jumping on England teams and qualifying on numerous occasions for the Royal International and Horse Of The Year Show. Since going onto horses she has had great success getting on the uner 18's young riders squad and qualifying and being placed at HOYS and RIHS on her home produced stallion Rush On M.

Shelley has been interested in horses all her life but was not allowed her own pony until the age of 11 when her mum considered her old enough to look after it herself. She competed at mainly pony club and riding club level, competing on S/J, dressage and eventing teams. When she moved onto horses she partnered up with Isabelle, a Belgian mare with whom she was British Riding Clubs National S/J champion. Under the guidance of Debbie Marshall and the late Christine Roberts she achieved her BHSAI and NVQ levels II and III. Since meeting Tim she has gone onto compete BSJA, qualifying Blue Chip championships and 5yrs and 6yrs Welsh Masters.

Training, we also help with the training of both horse and rider. We have had much success in the ring not only ourselves but with many other junior riders who have come to for training. We helped Stacey Geffries and CJ's Kemosabi to their European place, we put the foundations into the now very successfull Phillipa Dobby and Andrew Mizon. We also spent alot of time and effort working with Lucy Pheasant and her JC pony Knockbeg Wastbury, which under our watchful eye she qualified the JC final, Royal Show, HOYS and was a member of the Great Britain Nations Cup team in Freudenburg, Germany. That is to name but a few achievements - there have been many more along the way.

We hope that gives you an insight into SS Sporthorses and that if you have any specific requirements or are interested in any of our horses you don't hesitate to call - we will do our best to help you.
